I really have to find that book again that I have that shows what different hand signals mean, or find them somewhere on the internets. Jack uses them so often and so easily in canon I should probably know them as well, even if they're best used sparingly.

And thank you for the thanks! I try hard to have Jack's injuries be somewhat more realistic, even if canon makes it rather hard at times. Fortunately I can't write from experience, but I was hoping my research would be good enough. :D

And actually I hadn't meant that or the last line to be as heavily foreshadowing as they were, but that's what you get when you're writing on not a hell of a lot of sleep; you miss the obvious even in your own fic and end up looking smart by accident. ;D
